Hilla and Bernd Becher's photographs of European Blast Furnace Heads from the 1970s are the basis for these abstract paintings. By digitally manipulating reproductions of the Bechers' work and painting directly on top of them, I reveal and conceal the source imagery. The paintings redefine the daunting and monumental industrial sites as optimistic and personal. The series is shown in a grid formation, just as the Bechers displayed their work.
